Not All Destinations Are Created Equal
Vancouver, BC, January 2009
Among the buzz of competing destinations, it is important to remember why certain destinations have been popular for years and why this may be the time to take full advantage of them. Cabo is the perfect example.
Cabo has been a favourite recreation spot for decades for many reasons: it is the number one golf destination in Mexico; it offers world class fishing and has been described as “the aquarium of the world”; delights with high-end restaurants and accommodation that rival any in the US and Canada. This description gives you only the slightest idea of what this destination - located at the tip of Mexico’s Baja peninsula- has to offer.
All of its features, coupled with its proximity to the US and connectivity, have made Cabo the premier luxury destination in Mexico. For years it has been a play ground to the rich and famous, as well as those of us who enjoy the finer things in life. Its existing infrastructure and service industry will likely maintain Cabo as such for decades to come.
While the fame and luxury of Cabo has brought with it its fair share of million dollar + real estate, the current climate has set the stage for demand for reasonably priced property, which is starting to be met by supply. There are real estate options available that make this the time to seriously consider Cabo as a recreation and retirement destination. One example is Las Misiones – a development by MS ATLAS- which is a gated community of luxury homes currently under construction. Las Misiones homes carry a price tag that is within reach. The Atlas team, which has sold over 2,400 units in Mexico, says their goal was to create a “…one-of-a-kind luxury community…by an award winning architectural firm…”.The former being a feature of a company that “… has distinguished itself from its competitors by building homes of superior quality and competitive prices …” as well as building powerful partnerships – as noted by Atlas in a Press Release.
The beauty of Cabo at this particular point in time is that it remains an iconic destination, with options of competitive property pricing that have been unusual in recent years. This likely means that when the economic climate improves, prices may quickly rise once again.
